Simulation and Measurement: FEM, piezo, dynamics, laser vibrometry, prototype construction,…

Modeling and simulation of “active” piezoelectric material behavior

Using finite element method (FEM), we simulate the electromechanical behavior of piezoelectric systems. We take into account the directional dependence (anisotropy) of elastic, piezoelectric and dielectric properties in such “active” materials. Different polarization directions, occurring e.g. in piezoelectric transformers or in stack actuators of ultrasonic transducers are properly considered. Impedance curves and power consumption are predicted very well since by insertion of material-specific damping.

Simulation of impact processes and friction dynamics

For many years we at ATHENA Technologie Beratung GmbH have been dealing with the simulation of dynamic processes with impact contacts and friction. Our aim is not to reinvent physics, but to use the simplest possible models to create a basic understanding of processes that are otherwise not easily comprehensible. But we are also driven by a certain curiosity in order to keep learning what can be simulated with modern simulation tools and to what extent the results are confirmed e.g. by laser measurements.

Technology demonstrators and prototypes

To prove the technical feasibility, we develop, test, and optimize technology demonstrators and functional prototypes for our clients. At the request of our customers, we accompany the development until it is ready for series production or until start of production.
